SPOTTER TASK 3
SPOTTER: SILVIA
As this week spotter, I have reviewed some blogs of the other working groups, in this case the blogs of ‘The potato Committee’ and ‘Masterminds’. The objective of this revision is to obtain some ideas or information about the things that we have missed to include in our task.
Starting with the translators' part, we have 2 concepts in common with Masterminds that are blended learning and constructivism and another one that is similar to the Potato Committee, the connectivism in education; both groups refer to the connectivity offered by the use of technologies, as they allow the learner to access a large number of tools and resources through the use of these technologies in education.
Other interesting concepts that I found are:
Geek concept: Digital comic, this is the tool that has been used in this task to develop our stories. One of their main advantages is their accessibility, because they can be easily downloaded and read online anytime and from anywhere.
Pedagogical aspect: Graphic storytelling, this is the technique used for this project, it involves using graphic narratives like comics and graphic novels to educate and engage students. It utilises the combination of images and text to communicate stories and information.
Theoretical concept: Technology, Even though we use technology in our daily lives, its meaning is not well-known for a vast majority of us. Some of us tend to think that technology is only relegated to the world of science meanwhile others equate technology to with gadgetry. However, this is completely wrong. A better approach to the term “Technology” is understand it as the practical application of knowledge so that something completely new can be done.
Theoretical concept: Behaviorism, is a psychological theory founded by John B. Watson in 1913 and later developed by B.F. Skinner. It is based on the belief that learning takes place through stimulus-response associations rather than cognitive processes. We can distinguish between two main forms of behaviorism: Classical conditioning (developed by Watson and Pavlov) and operant conditioning (developed by Skinner). Behaviorism highlights the idea that behavior is shaped by the environment and that desired conducts can be strengthened by reinforcement, while undesirable behavior can be corrected through punishment. In an educational context, following this idea, teachers can reinforce intended behavior using rewards, and prevent unwanted conducts with consequences. All in all, in contrast to constructivism, which states that learning is actively constructed, behaviorism claims that learning is passively shaped by environmental stimuli.
Talking about the analysts' part, I have come to the conclusion that we can improve when it comes to working as a team, taking more time to do some parts of the work together, such as selecting the historical facts of this task, so that we can then come up with ideas spontaneously, instead of each of us having to continue the story where the partner has left off, is something that the Masterminds group did take into account and that perhaps we should implement.
