SPOTTER TASK 7
SPOTTER: Pablo
- STEM in education
STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is an educational approach that enhances these disciplines to prepare students for careers in those sectors. It is part of formal and informal education, at all levels, and it fosters scientific literacy, technological advancements, and others. It has many positive impacts on students' knowledge and skills regarding to some studies, though these ones are often limited in duration, and non-experimental. Its implementation varies in every country depending on the socio-economic and educational contexts. In addition to that, STEM education is still used less in traditional domains, like language learning or history.

- Active Learning
Active learning refers to instructional strategies that engage students in the learning process directly through useful and practical activities and reflection. In this task, students actively constructed knowledge about the Solar System by participating in games and interacting with AR. By scanning the Merge Cube and collaborating with peers during the trivia and the "Who is who?" game, students not only absorbed theoretical information, but they engaged in inquiry, critical thinking, and social learning. To sum up, Active learning promotes deeper retention and the application of knowledge to real-world contexts.
- Solar System
The Solar System comprises the Sun and the celestial bodies gravitationally bound to it, including eight planets, their moons, dwarf planets, asteroids, and comets. It provides a foundation for understanding planetary science, gravitational forces, and space exploration. For primary students, learning about the Solar System fosters curiosity about astronomy and the universe. In our activity, the AR experience made this abstract concept "tangible" because they could see it in 3D, enabling students to explore the positions and features of each planet in a visual, immersive manner.
