STAR TASK 2

 STAR (NATALIA):

We decided that we wanted to do a superhero comic since we thought it would be easy for us to draw and to create a story since we all had read this type of comic before. Then, we created the story about this crazy scientist that commits an error while doing a experiment and this leads to a change in the spacetime provoking all technology to disappear, so our superhero needs to go back in time while discovering all the technological advances in order to solve the problem and get back all the technology.

So in order to make the comic, we divided the work into making first some characters (superhero, the villain, random kids, etc) and we found a web that worked just fine for us because it was focus on the superhero comic´s theme but when we were starting to create our comic we realize that we needed to pay if we wanted to continue so that was a little bit annoying for us but we continue using that web (storyboardthat). We made our cover using AI (copilot) by giving a description of what we had in mind for our comic.

Also in the process of creating our comic, we found some difficulties with the web since we had to save all the time, our progress made because if we didn't do so everything would get deleted, which happened to us. And also in the last bullets the web started to collapse because of all the elements that we use for the comic. Overall, from our point of view, the web makes the comic look very cute and professional but it is too complicated for us to use.

The good part is that since we were five we divided the work so the comic is as long as we wanted it to be because all of us created some bullets and we also divided the 20 technology moments we wanted to use.

We all think that comics are very useful for children since it emphasizes their motivation for reading, due to not only do they

have images that they can rely on but also they have typical characters such as villains, superheroes that they already know so it just makes it easier and more attractive for them to read.

Moreover, comics allow students to progress at their own speed since unlike films they have  a visual permanence allowing the students to read it at their own time without rushing them. Also educators like Versaci use comics to challenge students’ perceptions of the literary canon, fostering critical thinking.

All in all, we think that comics are the perfect way to make students more motivated, helping them to enhance their reading practice by facilitating the process and making it more attractive to them.

For the feedback, we made a survey using "questionpro" and we sent it after doing our presentation, some of the feedback we got from our peers were (questions about our comic + presentation):

The format was very well done and very professional

I think it was a really good comic and everything was clear and welldone

I really liked the pictures, it was super original!!

it was good but maybe explain the comic a little more

It was interesting

I liked the fact that the characters were accurate each time as well as the scenarios. I also liked that It looked like a real comic with a real story and that It was long but maybe for presenting It in class It would have been better to do It shorter so that we could read It entirely during the presentation (It was actually perfect for me I'm just trying to think of something for you to work on.

Thanks to this feedback we can conclude that although our comic was welldone, we could have made it a little bit shorter in order for our peers to have time to read it at the same time we were presenting and also that we probably could have use another website to do it since, as Linda said, we should learn how to work with apps and websites that are free in order to show our students how to introduce technology on their education. But overall, I think we made a pretty good job with the comic.
